About This Course:

Learning Goals:

Teachers will model and teach Digital Citizenship by the ethical, respectful, and safe use of digital tools and resources that support the creation of a positive digital school culture.

By the end of this assignment you will demonstrate mastery of the NC Digital Learning Competencies: Digital Citizenship.

Evaluate and edit your existing instructional resources to ensure intellectual property rights, copyright laws, and fair use guidelines are followed.
Create and facilitate a student activity in which students are required to follow copyright law and fair use guidelines and are evaluated on their use through a rubric.
Conduct a lesson or activity with students where students will communicate online to demonstrate responsible digital social interaction.
Create and facilitate a lesson or activity where students can communicate with another classroom from around the world and collaborate on a research project.
Create and facilitate a lesson that includes adaptive digital resources for students with individual learning needs.

Instructions:

Participants who choose to begin the Digital Citizenship Focus Area at the Mastery level will submit an artifact to provide evidence of their skill in the 3 target areas: Intellectual Property & Copyright, Ethical Technology Use, and Global Awareness. It is possible that participants who initially begin at this level may later choose to return to the self-evaluation page and select another entry point for the coursework to complete.

Upon successful completion of the Mastery level, participants may earn 1.0 CEUs and a digital badge in this Focus Area.

Time Needed:

The Mastery artifact reflects activities that demonstrate skill in this Focus Area. Some artifacts may take more or less time for teachers as they complete activities or collect evidence, but on average submission of the Mastery artifact and rationale may take 4-5 hours to complete.
